Overview
Ketchikan Port Rate Study
Project Lead: Mike Fisher, Colleen File
Northern Economics conducted a market comparison study for the Port of Ketchikan that looked at rates charged by other cruise-ship ports in Alaska, as well as by ports elsewhere in North America with similar market characteristics. The study included Ketchikan, ten comparison ports in Alaska (from Juneau to Dutch Harbor to Nome), and the ports of Bar Harbor, Maine, and Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. After comparing rates for dockage, lightering, passengers, security, water service, and other services across the group, the report presented the cost of a port call in each community by two typical cruise ships that visit Ketchikan.
